Adolescents and young adults are experiencing unprecedented rates of anxiety, depression, and psychological distress. This webinar will examine social and educational factors associated with these trends, with particular attention to the impact of self-critical and perfectionistic thinking patterns. Participants will gain practical, evidence-informed cognitive strategies to support their own well-being and to better assist colleagues, trainees, and family members.

At the conclusion of this activity, participants should be able to:
Describe key social and educational factors that may be contributing to rising rates of anxiety, depression, and psychological distress among adolescents and young adults.
Recognize self-critical and perfectionistic patterns of thinking that can contribute to distress among physicians and medical trainees.
Apply basic cognitive restructuring strategies to identify and modify self-critical thought patterns in themselves and to better support learners and colleagues.
